"Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom." — Aristotle
If you think this might overwhelm you, don't worry. A small amount of learning about your 'needs' is all you need to start with.
Everything in nature has needs, and we are no exception. Our needs span from basic survival to complete fulfillment—and everything in between. Regardless of your life situation, understanding your own needs can only be advantageous. That’s right, there are no downsides, only benefits. How does this work? It’s straightforward. Once you understand any needs model (a quick Google search will find many), when life presents its highs and lows, you’ll have a simple reference point to review, compare, and make changes. Speaking from my own experience, this process often leads to 'aha' moments.
The simple act of taking an interest in a needs model and reflecting with curiosity can guide you toward personal growth. This process of self-reflection may highlight some gaps, overcompensation, or imbalances, but at least now you have awareness. And as the old saying goes, "knowledge is power"—especially in how you get your needs met. This self-reflection empowers you because now you have more informed choices about your future.
